Uh-Oh, Aubrey!

Poor Aubrey had an unfortunate accident on Thursday afternoon. She climbed on to the trampoline with the big girls, and somehow managed to fall just the wrong way and fracture her tibia bone (just below the knee). I am usually so careful about watching her when she's on there, but Marlee had a friend over and I was standing in the driveway talking to her mom, and before I knew it Aubrey had fallen. On Friday morning, she would not put any weight on her left foot at all, and wouldn't even try to walk. Thankfully, I already had plans to take her to the doctor on Friday for her 18 month check up. Dr. Smalley referred us to Auburn Diagnostic Center for X-Rays, where they confirmed the fracture. It was too late yesterday afternoon to get in with an Orthopedic doctor, so we opted to skip the Emergency Room. We came home and called our friend and neighbor, Sherri, whose husband Bob is an orthopedic surgeon. They were able to hook us up with an appointment this morning at 7:3o at The Orthopedic Clinic. They are open on Saturday mornings for a football clinic for high school players injured in Friday night games, so we went early and Dr. Bob was so kind to tend to Aubrey before he started his busy day. Aubrey will have to wear her cast until September 21st. She has done really well with it, but gets very frustrated when she can't get around like she wants to. She has already figured out how to crawl with it on, and took a few steps this afternoon. By the way, she weighed 26 lbs. 8 ounces at her check-up and was still tracking in the 75th percentile in both weight and height. I forgot to write down her height, so I'll have to update that later.

Ready for bed after a long day

We'll see how she sleeps tonight. I know she is going to be so uncomfortable. Hopefully, she'll get a good nights rest and make more progress tomorrow.
I still plan to do a slide show on Shelby's birthday before the long weekend is over.
